Studies show good health is all important
The first kidney transplant operation in Bahria Town Hospital (BTH) Lahore was performed successfully, making BTH one of the few hospitals able to perform the procedure. All expenses for the operation were borne by Bahria Town Chairman Malik Riaz Hussain.
A team of certified surgeons lead by Prof Dr Jawad Sajid Khan performed the kidney transplant operation on 40-year old Tasawur Sadiq. His sister Shaguta Afzal donated one of her kidneys to her brother.
The hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art kidney transplant equipment that will also take care of the post-operation health of the patients.
The hospital will soon start liver transplant operations. Doctors of international repute are being called from Britain and the United States to join local surgeons for this purpose. It should be noted that a liver transplant operation costs Rs4 million on average. Earlier Bahria Town sponsored such operations at Apollo Hospital in India.
